Guaranteed Travel Assurance Plan (GTAP)

The Guaranteed Travel Assurance Plan (GTAP) is a one-time purchase that helps cover the costs and logistics of bringing someone home if they pass away while traveling. Often offered through funeral provider as part of pre-arranged plans, it provides lifetime coverage for a single payment. If a death occurs more than 100 kilometers from home, GTAP manages all transportation and arrangements with care and professionalism.

With one phone call, loved ones can access 24/7 assistance to begin the process. The plan handles all legal preparations, paperwork, and travel coordination, including international situations. There are no medical exams or health questions, and families never have to pay expenses upfront. GTAP offers a simple, worry-free way to ensure peace of mind while traveling.

I highly recommend GTAP, I purchased it myself. If anyone is interested, please feel free to reach out to Roberta MacNeil, Owner and Operator of Thames Valley Cremation Services Inc., and I would be happy to explain the details.

Frequently Asked Questions?

If a death occurs 100 kilometers or more from the participant legal residence, GTAP arranges for the participant’s return home. GTAP, through its service provider APASI (American Pre-Arranged Services Inc.) manages all documentation, transportation, preparation and coordinates with the receiving funeral home.

No. GTAP is a standalone purchase. (Although preplanning is a great idea!)

No. If a death occurs, you call a toll-free number provided on a wallet card, and APASI (American Pre-Arranged Services Inc.) takes care of everything from that point forward. There are no out-of-pocket expenses. All services MUST be arranged by APASI. No claims for reimbursement will be accepted.

There are no age limits or health qualifications required to purchase this plan, it’s a simple, one-page application. If you purchase the plan while away from home, plan of assistance becomes effective upon your return.

The plan is valid if death occurs anywhere in the world; although, coverage cannot be guaranteed if participant dies in a location cited on the Government of Canada Travel Website for restricted travel for Canadian Citizens.

The main difference is that GTAP is a one-time purchase for a lifetime of coverage, not a yearly policy. Other travel insurance or benefit plans often include multiple conditions, pre-existing clauses, reimbursement requirements where you must pay up front and may have a coverage limit.

You will receive a full refund if you cancel within 30 days. No refund after 30 days
