We prioritize transparency to give you peace of mind in making arrangements.
The guide is designed to support informed consumer choices regarding funeral, burial, cremation and hydrolysis services. It is written for families and the public to know their options, rights and responsibilities before entering into contracts with organizations that are licensed under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002.
This $30 fee is charged by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO). It supports the BAO’s work in providing consumer information, regulating the bereavement sector, responding to public complaints and questions, inspecting and licensing funeral establishments, transfer services, cemeteries, and crematoriums across Ontario. The BAO is wholly funded by licensee fees, not tax dollars.

The Guaranteed Travel Assurance Plan (GTAP) is a one-time purchase that helps cover the costs and logistics of bringing someone home if they pass away while traveling. Often offered through funeral homes as part of pre-arranged plans, it provides lifetime coverage for a single payment. If a death occurs more than 100 kilometers from home, GTAP manages all transportation and arrangements with care and professionalism.
With one phone call, loved ones can access 24/7 assistance to begin the process. The plan handles all legal preparations, paperwork, and travel coordination, including international situations. There are no medical exams or health questions, and families never have to pay expenses upfront. GTAP offers a simple, worry-free way to ensure peace of mind while traveling.
