Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Edith Hobson (Steele), age 81, of London, Ontario. She passed suddenly on May 15, 2026, at University Hospital surrounded by family.

Born on February 14, 1945, in London Ontario to Abel Wellington Steele and Frances Doris Steele (Northey) grew up with the love for reading and music of all kinds. She graduated from Beal Secondary and went on to have a career in Manufacturing at Northern Telecom. Outside of work Doreen was known for the love of her family, all animals especially cats, enjoyed the art of ceramics and all kinds of games with Yahtzee at the top of the list.

Doreen was devoted to estranged deceased husband Russell Murray Hobson for 62 years and a loving mother to Russell Grenville Hobson and wife Beverly Hobson and Ronald Micheal Hobson and partner Joanne. She will be deeply missed by grandsons Russell Tyler and Matthew Dean Hobson and sister Anne Steele and brothers John Henry and Gerald Wellington (Shirley) Steele and deceased Frederick George Steele (Norma) plus many other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Doreen’s name to London Humane Society.
