Obituary

Arthur Richard Dalgleish, Aug 18, 1938 to July 6, 2026

We are sad to share the news of the passing of our father Arthur Dalgleish. He passed away in his 88th year, having lived a full life.

Born and raised in Tecumseh Ontario to Glenn and Gertrude, Arthur was the second oldest of four boys. He liked to say he didn’t have indoor plumbing growing up, so military basic training felt luxurious. Then he met Rose-Marie, and life truly started for him. They had 4 children, Susan, Donald, Darren and June who all fondly remember days at the beach, hunting for wild berries and family dinners spent together.

Art had a very successful 37 year career in the Royal Canadian Air Force which took them around the world, making lifelong friends and memories.
He knew many facts, in fact some of them twice. Always reminding us ‘That’s a fact!’ as he was well known to exaggerate details in stories, a well established Dalgleish predisposition.

Art was an avid reader and lover of puzzles. He was athletic, engaged in all racquet sports, especially badminton. He loved hikes in the bush often with one of his kids or a dog. Grounded, good natured and friendly, he greeted everyone with a cheerful “Howdy”

Art lives on through his children Susan White (Tom), Donald Dalgleish (Deb) Darren Dalgleish (Violette) and June Martin (late Ian), grandkids Alexandra, Liam, Lachlann, Lily, Aaron, Bradley and Stephanie (all loved their Pipi dearly). Predeceased by his wife Rose-Marie, brothers Glenn and Frank, survived by brother Russell.

The family would like to thank the staff at Parkwood Veterans Care in London for their incredible care.

Art did not want a funeral or service (he never wanted to be a bother), he knew everyone would celebrate his life in their own way. His children will gather for the sprinkling of his ashes, where he will join Rose, at a later date.
