It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Chris Haas at the age of 58.
He passed, peacefully, on Friday June 12, 2026 at London Health Sciences Centre.
Loving father to Ryan, Collin, and Dani Haas.
Dear brother of Karen Hillier (Jim) and Stephen (Cindy).
Predeceased by his parents Lucille and Steve and sister, Kelly Jakob.
Chris lived and breathed Detroit Red Wings. Whether cheering from the “Joe” or screaming at the TV from the comfort of the living room, he treated every win like a championship and viewed every loss as "just a rebuilding year."
A huge fan of Detroit music, often attending epic live concerts, Chris saw the rhythm in everyday life. He was never happier than when a song he loved filled the room.
He spent the last 40 years as a resident of London, Ontario. Always resourceful and perseverant, even in moments of adversity.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the kind and compassionate care given by London Health Sciences Centre, 6th floor Health Care Team.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Main Beach, Port Stanley. Please gather at the Pavilion upon arrival.
Donations to The Children's Aid Society of London or Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
A lifetime of hockey memories.

Dear Karen, Stephen and families,
We are so very sorry to hear about Chris’s passing. I have many fond memories of our families spending time together celebrating holidays and camping in Northern Ontario. One of my favourite memories is cute five-year-old Chris calling my dad Fred, which we would all laugh as he didn’t believe his real name was Red. Our deepest condolences to you all during this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. I have fond memories of camping in Michigan with our families many years ago and sharing the tent with Chris and Shawn Bodle and laughing into the wee hours of the morning. Also great memories of being classmates at MDBennie. Sad to hear of Chris's passing .
