After a short and extremely brave battle against Squamous Cell Carcinoma Trish passed away on July 15, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Trish is survived by her husband Paul Wilkinson, her kids Kyle Wilkinson (Kendall), Kandyce Ridgway (Cam) and her five grandkids Xavier, Kade, Rylynn, Ryder and Boston. Predeceased by her parents, Derek and Rosa Van Nierop and her two sisters, Denise and Sandy.
Trish immigrated to Canada in 1994 from South Africa. She started working for Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro shortly thereafter and retired at the age of 55. Trish and Paul traveled the world together for two years before settling down in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. She returned to Canada to be with her kids and grandkids.
She touched so many lives in South Africa, UK, Mexico and Canada. Anyone that knew her knows that we were the lucky ones to have the pleasure of being in her presence.
Thank you to the Staff at Wingham Hospital and London Victoria Hospital for their compassion and dedication to Trish's care. The family is truly greatful to you all.
There will be no funeral as cremation has taken place.
Please leave a memory of Trish to share with the family.

We met Trish and Paul in Playa del Carmen at Freaky Tiki in April 2024. Trish had the biggest smile on her face and truly enjoyed life. We often wondered how she and Paul were together as he always looked so grumpy. Well that was until we started talking with him! Boy were we wrong!!! We looked forward to seeing them during our next two winters. Such a beautiful couple and we will miss you so much Trish. Sending hugs to all who loved this wonderful lady ❤️

Trish's beaming personality and smile and love of hugs kept us connected by email every year on our birthdays since I retired from KW hydro in 2014. To Paul our deepest condolences. To Kandyce and the family, your Mom touched so many lives for the good. I am grateful I had the chance to know her as a colleague and a friend.
Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs.
Love to all, Joannie Schiedel.

It's with a heavy heart that we say our goodbye to you, (siblings: Dave van Nierop [Canada], Gail Bartlett [UK], Diana DosSantos De Pina [SA]). Trish was our little sister, and we shared many memories together growing up in Pretoria, and then Cape Town as young children. She aspired at school, was a very hard worker and loved her family and friends dearly. We wish you a fair journey and suspect you are already exploring new spaces.

When we visited Playa de Carmen several years ago, Trish welcomed us for a fantastic afternoon - and evening - along with their friends. Somehow Trish kept her wonderful South African accent which I always loved hearing.
May Trish's family be comforted by the many special memories Trish has left them with. Those memories will live on forever.

I had seen Trish around Playa for several years before I had the pleasure of meeting her about 3 years ago. We had lots of laughs together along the way and many antics as well. I'll miss her smile and laughs for sure. RIP my friend❤️

Trish took me in as a teen/young adult on more than one occasion. She was funny, brutally honest, compassionate without the sugar coating. I often still think of the things she was willing to speak so honestly about now- 20 years later. She was a force and because of that, she impacted so many.
